April joined Burnet Institute in October 2020 as Project Officer in the Tuberculosis Elimination and Implementation Science Working Group, supporting a number of projects in Papua New Guinea.
Prior to joining Burnet, April worked with the Leprosy Mission Australia to coordinate projects encompassing neglected tropical disease control, community-led health promotion, and rights of people with disabilities.
She has supported projects and partnerships in the NGO and social enterprise sectors for over five years, working mainly across Timor-Leste, Nepal and India.
In 2022-2023, Burnet is facilitating PNG's second Structured Operational Research and Training Initiative (SORT-IT) course, with a cohort of nine senior healthcare professionals from six provinces. The course is implemented in partnership with the National Department of Health, University of PNG, and PNG Institute of Medical Research.
